Josielle Fontes

Master's degree in chemistry

Josielle is currently a PhD student in Inorganic Chemistry at UNICAMP, working within the Greemlenz Laboratory. Her research project focuses on the sub-area of Bioinorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, aiming to design metalodrugs targeting specific pathogens responsible for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). During her Master’s degree, also conducted at the Greemlenz group under the guidance of Prof. Camilla Abbehausen, Josielle investigated Copper (I) organometallics as potential candidates for treating Leishmaniasis and Chykungunha. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the Federal University of Pará, her birthplace, with the goal of contributing to the field of Bioinorganic Chemistry through the development of novel metallodrugs tailored for NTDs.
