PhD work is cover of Dalton Transactions

The work performed for the PhD student Eduardo G. R. de Arruda was chosen to be the cover of the prestigious journal, published by The Royal Society of Chemistry. Other students participate as co-author of the work: the undergrad student Bruno A. Rocha and two master students Manoel V.F. Barrionuevo and Heidar Mar Adalsteinsson. The paper reports a systematic study of the first zinc coordination sphere in models of metallo-β-lactamases. This study helps understanding and fighting bacterial resistance, the reason the antibiotics has no longer worked. We also thanks the contributions of Prof. Frederico Alves Lima, Prof. Watson Loh and the PhD Flavia Elisa Galdino.
