Recently, we published a book chapter in Integrated Science for Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Springer, titled “Old Versus New Approaches Towards TriTryp Diseases.” The chapter addresses neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) such as trypanosomiasis and leishmaniasis, caused by Trypanosomatidae protozoa. These diseases are transmitted by vectors and currently lack vaccines. Available treatments are limited and can cause severe side effects. The UN aims to eradicate these diseases by 2030. The chapter highlights treatment advancements and emphasizes the importance of an integrated approach from multiple scientific fields to develop more effective and less toxic therapies.

We congratulate the teams involved, including the @lebil_unicamp group and Professor Fernanda Gadelha’s group, especially the students Marcus Garcia, Josielle Fontes, and Bruna Siqueira for their excellent work!
