Jennyfer Castro

PhD student

Graduated in chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) and technician in chemistry from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP). She holds a master’s degree in inorganic chemistry with an emphasis on bioinorganics at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). During her master’s degree she developed copper complexes with different amino acid ligands with superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic properties as potential therapeutics for oxidative stress in soybean crops (Glycine Max, L Merril). She is currently pursuing a PhD at the same university and is researching oxidizing properties of gold complexes with N-heterocyclic ligands and phosphorus derivatives for new therapeutic targets in mammalian cells.
